Auspicious Starting a New Job Dates in 2026 — Chinese Almanac

Frequently Asked Questions

Which day is auspicious to start a new job?

The classical choice is Establish (建) days — "the day the general takes command" — supported by Complete (成) and Open (开). The tradition maps neatly onto onboarding psychology: the first day sets the tone. Our engine ranks 2026 dates this way and removes breakers and veto days; the list on our new-job page shows each date's officer and reasoning.

What is an auspicious day to start work in Chinese New Year 2026?

The post-holiday 开工 (start work) date is a standing tradition — businesses and employees alike resume on an almanac-approved day after the February 17, 2026 New Year. Our engine computes the 2026 windows (Establish/Open officers, no year-breaker Rat days); for employees, the same dates serve as first-day-on-the-job choices.

What is the most lucky day to apply for a job?

Tradition distinguishes applying from starting: applications lean toward Initiate (执) days — decisive, seizing energy — while the start date itself wants Establish or Complete. For interviews, families often choose a day whose officer matches the industry's element. Our engine publishes the per-date officers so you can match either choice.

How to wish someone good luck starting a new job?

The classical blessing is 马到成功 (mǎ dào chéng gōng) — "success upon the horse's arrival," instant victory. The send-off customs: dress with one red element (socks, tie, pocket square — red is the color of anyone taking command), arrive with your own pen for the first-day paperwork, and learn three names before lunch: front desk, IT, facilities — they run the temple.

How can I use Feng Shui to attract a new job?

Date selection is the feng shui of timing: begin applications and interviews on Initiate days, accept the offer on a Stable day, and start on an Establish day. The desk matters too — in the new office, sit facing the door if possible (command position) and keep one red or gold object on the desk for the first month.

What are Chinese auspicious days?

Days ranked by the twelve Day Officers (建除十二神) — a rotating council of energies from Establish to Close — plus Yellow/Black Belt deity paths and a four-tier taboo arbitration. A date is "auspicious" only relative to an activity: what opens doors for a business launch differs from what steadies a medical procedure. Our per-activity lists make the ranking explicit and auditable.

Why do two Chinese almanac websites show different lucky dates?

Because an auspicious date is an arbitration verdict, not a fact recorded in one master book. Five decisions separate the lists: whether the calendar is transcribed from a printed edition or computed astronomically, how the 12 Day Officers reset at solar terms (calendar-day switching versus minute-level), which hard vetoes are enforced (Year Breaker, Month Breaker, Four Departures, Yang Gong taboos), whether Black Belt days are promoted as lucky, and which edition the site follows. The 12Zodiacs engine computes the calendar from the JPL DE440s ephemeris, switches terms at the exact minute, enforces every imperial veto, and follows the Qing imperial canon — all documented in the public methodology page.
