How Our Content Is Built
Classical Chinese texts are dense, allusive, and often cryptic even for modern
Chinese readers. Our approach is to translate for comprehension —
not word-for-word rendering, but meaningful interpretation that helps
non-Chinese readers understand what the original sources actually say.
Every page passes through five layers before publication.
Solar terms and zodiac boundaries are computed by our proprietary
TianJi Astronomical Engine (天機历法引擎) — a custom
calendar computation system built from classical Chinese astronomical
algorithms and enhanced with modern precision methods. The engine
performs two critical calculations:
- Exact solar term moments (24 Jie Qi) computed
using VSOP87 solar longitude models. During development, we
cross-verified every term against the Hong Kong Observatory
astronomical database and corrected numerous cases where
commonly cited online sources diverged from the true astronomical
values. Our engine uses the corrected, astronomically precise
moments — not the simplified fixed-date approximations found on
most English-language sites. - True Solar Time (TST) correction for every
birth chart, using the USNO (U.S. Naval Observatory) equation-of-time
algorithm with a built-in global city database covering longitude
and timezone data. The formula:
TST = Clock Time + (Longitude − Timezone Center) × 4 min/° + Equation of Time
This adjusts for the Earth’s elliptical orbit and axial tilt, which
can shift the “true” time of birth by up to ±16 minutes
depending on the date and location.

— the exact astronomical moment the Sun reaches 315° ecliptic longitude,
which varies from year to year. If you were born in late January
or early February, most sites use January 1 as the cutoff. We compute the
actual astronomical Lichun moment for each specific year —
which is what the classical system actually specifies. Combined with True Solar
Time correction for the exact birth location, this gives us a level of
calendrical precision that most English-language resources simply do not have.
Our BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny) system is a custom-built
16-dimension analysis engine — not a simple sign lookup
or a wrapper around third-party libraries. It powers our
free BaZi Calculator, a browser-based tool
that performs all calculations locally with zero data transmission.
Each chart is computed through sixteen interconnected analysis layers,

of classical Chinese metaphysics whom we commission for accuracy verification.
These are not academics — they are practitioners who learned through family inheritance (sons taking
over their father’s practice, relatives passing down formulas from childhood)
or through formal apprenticeship (拜师), a system where the master
not only teaches technique but eventually hands over a portion of their local client
base — much like a legacy business succession.

quality, catching nuances that automated systems cannot. Their authority
comes from a combined 100+ years of real-world practice —
each reviewer brings 20 or more years of client-facing experience, with lineages
